Ingredients
- Milk: Whole milk will make the creamiest oats. However, you can use any type of milk you like. I use Fairlife 2% milk because some within my family are lactose-sensitive.
- Honey: I use raw organic honey from a local family friend but any honey will work.
- Oats: Use rolled oats or old-fashioned oats. These will create the perfect texture for overnight oats. Avoid quick or instant oats which will end up too soggy. Steel-cut oats will also not work as their texture is too tough.
- Yogurt: This creates a thicker texture. I use a greek protein yogurt to add more vitamins and protein for my day.
- Blueberries: Can be either frozen, store-bought, or wild-picked, all work. Can be added in mixture or on top.
- Vanilla Extract: A small dash of vanilla extract adds a bit of sweetness.
- Chia Seeds: Can be used as a thickener or for an extra crunch. If added before the oats sit, it will create a very thick texture. If added in the morning or right before eaten, it will create an extra crunch.
Pro-Tips
- For a bit of extra sweetness, add an extra drizzle of honey before serving.
- These oats can become thicker the longer they sit in the fridge. Add a splash of milk to refresh the oats right before serving them!
- If you prefer to eat overnight oats warm, heat them in the microwave for 30 to 60 second before serving
Storage
In the fridge: Overnight oats will last up to 5 days in the fridge if stored in an airtight container. However they will taste the freshest if they are consumed within 2 to 3 days,
